French as foreign language


Learning French as a foreign language is obligatory for any non French speaking overseas student that arrives at CPE Lyon.

Language modules are made up as follows

  • English lessons
  • French as a foreign language lessons

Language levels are defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The scale has 6 levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 - C2 being the highest level. See box below


Your level of French must reach level B2.

How do you reach that level?


By passing the French language study diploma (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française, DELF), which is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, level B2.
